Gift Card Drives:
We provide support to clients for essentials like groceries, toiletries, and other household items. Volunteers can organize drives to collect gift cards of $25 or more. Walmart gift cards are especially useful because clients can purchase a variety of items they may need.
Welcome Home Baskets:
When a resident moves into a new property, they are often coming including basic cleaning supplies. We like to welcome new residents with these laundry baskets filled with items that they will need, particularly during those first few days and weeks. Small bottles of dish soap, laundry detergent, bar soap, and household cleaners. New/Unused kitchen towels, potholders, paper towels and toilet paper, bath towels, and any other special touches volunteers wish to add. These go a long way in making our new residents feel at home!
Birthday Kits:
Our clients and residents don’t always have the means to celebrate occasions like birthdays. That’s where Birthday Kits come in! Passage Home volunteers can put together a kit that includes a baking pan, cake mix, one can soda (Sprite or Starry), shelf stable frosting, and candles. Bonus: Any other special items, like a card or gift card
You may bring Birthday Kits to our offices and a Passage Home staff member will deliver to clients and residents in advance of their birthdays!
Baby Bundles:
Our clients with infants or toddlers often need supplies like diapers, wipes, formula, and other necessities. Volunteers can hold a Baby Bundle drive to collect these items or buy a few items the next time you’re at the store and drop off to add to our stock of supplies.
Purse Products:
Our female clients are often unable to afford need personal hygiene products such as pads and tampons. Volunteers may hold Purse Product Drives to collect these items or pick up a few extra items when you’re at the store and drop them by our office.
Property Clean-Ups:
Passage Home owns and manages upwards of 100 affordable housing units at locations across Raleigh in addition to our office locations. From time to time, we need assistance with cleaning units between resident move out and new resident move in, as well as seasonal clean up and beautification. These opportunities are typically group projects for 6 to 15 people during the spring and fall.
Additional seasonal volunteer opportunities at Passage Home vary throughout the year. Some events and opportunities we have had in the past include Back-to-School drive, Trunk-or-Treat, and Winter Holiday drives.
